Who owns Howards Motor Group?
The business was founded in 1972 by Peter Coleman (who remains the Group Chairman) and his father. Operating from four core locations which are Weston-super-Mare, Taunton, Yeovil and Dorchester, the brands that Howards Group represent are; Nissan, Toyota, Peugeot, Citroen, DS, Suzuki, Hyundai, MG, Honda and Kia. Owned and operated by local businessman Shelby Howard, Howard Companies has become an array of companies with one vision – building lasting relationships with customers based on consistently delivering a superior product, integrity, trust and value.
How did the Howard family get rich?
His family acquired the duchy of Norfolk through the marriage of Robert Howard with Margaret, daughter of Thomas Mowbray, 1st duke of Norfolk. Their son, John, eventually succeeded to most of the Mowbray estates and was created duke of Norfolk and hereditary earl marshal in 1483 when the Mowbray line died out. The Howard family are descended from Lord William Howard the youngest son of Thomas Howard, 4th Duke of Norfolk.
