Automatic Up/Down – The automatic-down feature is fairly common on cars with power windows. You tap and release the down switch and the window goes all the way down. This feature uses a circuit that monitors the amount of time you hold the switch down. An electric motor controls the movement of the window. The motor has two control inputs: raise and lower. Each window has a high torque sensor that generates an active signal when the motor applies more torque than its maximum rating.The window follows a track in the door to allow for smooth operation of the window’s motion. The DC motor works in a 2 to 5 amp current range and is controlled through a relay. The basic motor operation is accomplished by reversing the polarity of the motor to make the window move up or down.When you press the window switch, it sends a 12-volt electrical signal through the wiring to the window motor, which is nestled inside your door panel. This motor rotates directionally to move the window regulator, a mechanical device that moves the window glass up or down.
