What is VW plug and charge?
This makes charging at quick-charging stations or at home even more convenient: the vehicle registers itself at a charging station with the Plug & Charge function and activates the station – the charging process then starts automatically. A compatible charging contract is needed for this, for example from We Charge. Currently, EV drivers must plug into a charge point and initiate a connection using an RFID card (such as the Electrocard), app or contactless payment. These methods act as a key to opening the charging lock.With plug and charge, billing information is tied to the car, set up when it’s bought or leased, and authenticated by the charging station at the point of sale. This process creates a secure, standardized way for charging stations to communicate with EVs.
Is VW We Connect free?
We Connect opens up Volkswagen’s digital services to you and makes you Volkswagen connected. Following a one-off activation, you can use We Connect’s features free of charge. All you have to do is sign up to We Connect online via Volkswagen. Car-Net® Volkswagen: Remote Access For most newer VW vehicles, the Remote Access feature is available to you for free for five years.You need three things: ‘Car-Net App Connect’ (£100 when ordered from the factory, £215 for a dealer upgrade, standard on the Pro system); any of VW’s Composite Media, Discovery Navigation or Discovery Navigation Pro infotainment systems; and a compatible mobile device with the apps downloaded.
