Is the V6 Amarok a good car?
The Amarok is a great pick-up truck offering strong engines, impressive practicality and good driving characteristics. That said, it’ll cost you more than its rivals, including the closely-related and brilliant Ford Ranger. For the previous-generation Amarok, servicing costs totalled $2000 for four-cylinder diesel versions, while V6 diesel variants were $200 more expensive over five years at $2200, however, all 2023 Amaroks now have a capped price total of $1800 regardless of the variant or drivetrain.There is currently a choice of two engines in the Amarok, both diesel Ford engines manufactured in the UK and shipped out: the 205 hp four-cylinder and the 236 hp V6. The previous Amarok was fitted with VW engines and the V6 was very popular.
Is Amarok using Ford engines?
A line-up of Ford-sourced but Volkswagen-developed engines will make their way into the second-generation Amarok. Volkswagen has unveiled its second-generation Amarok and in doing so has locked in the details for its new engine line-up – but the Ford Ranger Raptor’s 292kW petrol V6 is not on the cards. VW’s decision was largely influenced by the arrival of newer, more sophisticated models in the Amarok range that offer better performance and features. While the entry-level Amarok served the market well for years, VW is focusing on pushing more premium models that align with its broader brand strategy.
