Is the T-Roc 1. TSI a good car?
It might not set pulses racing but we commend the T-Roc’s straightforward approach with a good range of powertrains, solid practicality and competitive pricing. We still think the cheaper Life variant will be the pick of the bunch, though. And unlike most of the alternatives you might consider, the T-Roc isn’t available with any hybrid, plug-in hybrid or electric engine options. Instead, you get just plain petrol choices – which aren’t the most efficient in heavy traffic. No, but it’s far from the expensive end of things. Plus, if you can resist ticking some option boxes, it beats some value-focused rivals and looks good doing it. If the feeling of a sturdy fit-out and a confidence inspiring drive is important to you, I reckon the T-Roc should be an entry on your shopping list.
Is the Volkswagen T-Roc a reliable car?
The T-Roc finished sixth out of 22 cars in the small SUV class in What Car’s most recent reliability survey. It achieved this placing with a terrific overall score of 98. This placed it above the Seat Arona and the Skoda Kamiq but below the Audi Q2 and the Mini Countryman. The T-Roc is slightly easier to park than the Tiguan, and slightly cheaper – although neither of these cars are among the most affordable SUVs. It still features much of the same technology and equipment, and still has plenty of space for most buyers’ needs.
