Why is VR6 so fast?

While they may not have the raw power of a V8, they can benefit significantly from supercharging.Too many variables – size & weight of the vehicle it’s in, fuel type, boost (if boosted) capacity etc etc. A supercharged V6 (like GM’s L67) is quite capable of outrunning 5. L V8s in equivalent size/weight cars. But do a little bit of work to those V8s and they gain the upper hand.V6s are still prevalent in numerous performance cars thanks to their versatility across a variety of platforms. Turbocharging is highly effective in a V6 to create upwards of 500bhp, and manufacturers frequently offer twin-turbo V6 setups as an alternative to bulkier V8 engines.
