Mark Darbon – Chief Executive. Mark Darbon’s appointment as the new chief executive of the R&A comes at a time when men’s professional golf remains embroiled in unprecedented uncertainty. The 45-year-old will leave his job in charge of Premiership title holders Northampton Saints to succeed Martin Slumbers at the St Andrews-based governing body.Darbon, 45, has led the Club for seven years having arrived at cinch Stadium at Franklin’s Gardens in July 2017, and while he departs to pursue an exciting opportunity as Chief Executive of The R&A (based in St Andrews, Scotland), he will remain on the Northampton Saints board as a Non-Executive Director.Mark Darbon has been appointed Chief Executive of The R&A and Secretary of The Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews.
