In-car Internet refers to Internet service provided in a car. Internet access can be provided by tethering a mobile phone, with a mobile hotspot, or with any satellite based connections, whether portable or built into the car. In short, to get WiFi in your car, you can use a mobile or portable hotspot, plug an OBD-II device into your dashboard, or install a dedicated wireless router. For a more integrated solution, you can use free public WiFi while parked or activate the built-in hotspot and data plan already present in many newer vehicles.

Wi-Fi for your car works in more than one way. If your car comes with built-in Wi-Fi, think of it as a hotspot or local Wi-Fi network connecting various devices to the internet. Like your home router, your car has its own receiver and transmitter, which connects to the internet via a cellular data connection. If you have an Unlimited plan you can add Connected Car Wi-Fi for $20/month. If you have a data-only plan you can add it for $10/month. Connected Car Wi-Fi service is a line on your existing Verizon account. It will appear on your monthly bill and in My Verizon under My Devices.Wi-Fi is available as part of the In-Vehicle Data plan or In-Vehicle Premium plan. Alternatively, current Verizon and T-Mobile customers also have the option to add a monthly Wi-Fi hotspot subscription to their existing mobile plan.
