Sales of the Lupo were slow and missed Volkswagen’s targets. In 2001 a Volkswagen source claimed that it was decided the Lupo would eventually be discontinued and replaced by a model built in China. Volkswagen launched the Lupo city car in 1998. Versions of the small car that are regarded to this day as technical milestones appeared on several occasions.VW LUPO is a great little car. Not so good with four passengers though, but in our case that is rare.
