The entry-level Cupra Formentor is a solid choice if you want a stylish, practical, neatly finished and well-equipped family SUV. In essence, you’ll want a CUPRA Ateca if you have a bigger family and need more interior space, and the CUPRA Formentor will appeal if you have a growing family with less of a requirement for space.
Are CUPRA cars good quality?

Is CUPRA a luxury car?
Much like Mercedes-Benz has AMG and BMW has the M range, SEAT has CUPRA. It’s SEAT’s performance-driven brand, made with insane performance and luxurious designs. But up until 2018, it wasn’t a separate brand. You could get a SEAT Leon CUPRA or IBIZA CUPRA, which were the top-of-the-range models. These are very similar cars because CUPRA and SEAT are part of the same company. They also belong to the Volkswagen Group, which includes other popular, high-quality marques like VW, Audi and Skoda.
Why is CUPRA so expensive?
CUPRA’s cars are designed to be sportier, so have more powerful engine and motor options plus more aggressive body styling. They’re also generally more expensive than their SEAT counterparts, so while you may benefit from higher-quality materials and more technology, ask yourself whether this is important to you. The Formentor doesn’t have a great reputation for reliability. In our most recent Reliability Survey it finished in 25th place out of 33 cars with a score of 89. SUV section, which is better than the Range Rover Evoque, but worse than the Audi Q3, Volvo XC40 and Jaguar E-Pace.The Formentor is not the most reliable car you can buy, with relatively lowly finishes in reliability surveys. It’s more likely that you’ll experience an annoying fault than a major breakdown, however. If the Cupra Formentor does have a problem, the five-year/90,000-mile warranty should cover it.Every version of the Cupra Formentor is incredibly well-equipped, and unless you’re after some high-end car tech, we reckon that the V1 model is an excellent pick for most buyers. If you can afford it – and going for the entry-level V1 trim could help – choose the plug-in hybrid version.
