Up’ is an amazing film to get lost into. It has everything that is needed for a Disney Pixar animation to be successful. It is heart-warming, emotional, and comical. Obviously, the animation is done perfectly, every single aspect of the aesthetic has been thought through outstandingly. Up’s opening scene is notoriously sad. Pixar decided to rip your heart out in the first 4 minutes of the movie. But this one little 4 minute scene has taught me so much about storytelling. What makes it such an effective hook?
